This is probably one of my favorite projects to date. For this assignment, we were to utilize physical type to create a book cover, and then physically assemble the cover to a copy of the book. I chose to design a cover for Into the Wild, a story about adventure, identity, and true happiness. I cut the letters out of maps of Alaska and California, and I tore images out of a thrifted Ansel Adams photography book. I scanned all of these elements and arranged them digitally, and the end result is this cover. I feel it captures the spirit of the book.
